Mahogany Residence is inspired by the concept of “Borrowed Landscape” or shakkei in Japanese, is a design technique where elements outside a space are integrated into the overall landscape composition. The design aims to create a sense of expanded space and a seamless connection between the landscape and its surroundings, 800 acres of forest reserve. Swimming pool, feature pergola, and structure are placed at the strategic location as a framed view to enhance the view of the borrowed scenery, adding visual interest with breath-taking views of the natural surroundings. This draws attention to natural surroundings, making them appear as part of the design. The landscape feels open and connected, drawing on the beauty beyond its boundaries. The urban forest concept has been integrated into landscape design, creating natural havens for people, providing essential ecosystem services, and improving the quality of life for city dwellers. It contributes to cities' sustainability goals by acting as a carbon sink, which is beneficial for combating climate change.
